Traditional Building Skills Roadshow 2022 to visit students at Perth Schools
Over two days this Autumn (28-29th September) we will be bringing traditional skills demonstrations and taster sessions to students of two secondary schools in Perth – Perth Grammar and St John’s Academy.
This has been made possible by generous commitments from local tradespeople still practicing traditional crafts skills in their work of conserving and restoring historic buildings, and by the Developing the Young Workforce program in Tayside, which aims to prepare learners for their future pathways and the transition into the world of work.
Together we’ll offer young people experiential opportunities to develop skills for learning, skills for life, and skills for work.
This year up to 96 students will be able to come and try their hands at demonstrations of stone carving, sash and case window joinery, roof slating, and traditional styles and methods of interior decorating.
